Community Engagement Update

February 21, 2025 / The Invert Team / Article Source

For the past four years, The Invert Chicago team has been actively engaging with residents across the Southeast Side and neighboring communities to share our vision, answer questions, and solicit feedback to improve The Invert—a transformative subsurface business park with an above-ground community space at the historic Republic Steel site.

Through thousands of conversations, hundreds of project briefings, and support for local events and organizations, we’ve fostered trust, encouraged open dialogue, and refined our plans to reflect community needs. We’re proud to have earned broad support for this project, as evidenced by receiving more than a thousand letters of support, and we appreciate the relationships we’ve built along the way.

Our first-of-its-kind Community Engagement Center at 10548 Ewing Avenue has played a key role in these efforts, particularly in the early stages of introducing our vision. Over time, our engagement organically evolved from our space, to happening out in the community—whether at neighborhood gatherings, local meetings, or events. With that in mind, we’ve decided to transition away from our storefront as we continue moving forward with the project.

Our commitment to community involvement and dialogue remains. Over the past few years, we have worked with a variety of technical experts and engineers to assess our project. Today, we are releasing the summaries for our Economic Impact Study, as well as an exhaustive Sustainability Study. You can find those summaries linked here.

We remain a presence in the community and will continue sharing project updates. You can continue to reach us by email at info@invert.cltv8.com with any questions or feedback.

Thank you for your continued interest in The Invert—we look forward to staying connected.
